The forum for outstanding young academics and professionals from all over the world that awards
the “Falling Walls Young Innovator of the Year”. 100 scholars are each invited to present their work
to a distinguished jury of high-ranking representatives from science and business for three minutes.
The participants have passed a rigorous selection process during the “Qualifying Labs” in
Johannesburg, São Paulo, Moscow, London and Los Angeles. It is supported by A.T. Kearney
(Founding Partner) and KWS SAAT AG (Global Partner 2013).

International forum for outstanding science-based start-up companies, venture capital companies
and strategic investors that awards the “Falling Walls Science Start-Up of the Year”. 20 academic
institutions and venture capitals are each presenting their best new science-based companies to a
distinguished jury for ten minutes. The jury is lead by Stefan von Holtzbrinck (Verlagsgruppe Georg
von Holtzbrinck GmbH publishing group). Among others the following research institutions resp.
universities have agreed to nominate a science based start-up: California Institute of Technology
(Caltech), Max Planck Society, University College London, ETH Zurich, Karlsruhe Institute of
Technology, Weizmann Institute.

On one day, 20 world-class researchers from all disciplines and parts of the world each showcase
the breakthroughs they are working on in 15-minute talks. Among the speakers are Nobel laureates,
artists, heads of states and governments. The conference attracts an audience from over 80 nations
and is covered by the media globally. It is considered to be one of the foremost places of high-level
exchange between science, business and other sectors of society.

The international round-table discussion on science strategy. The invitation-only meeting brings
together 50 presidents and CEOs of research organisations, science driven global corporations,
science publishing houses, senior officials from governments and the EU, and young researchers.
