VERONA - Just a brief note about technology and ideology. As my Italian friends know, I have been writing a book about this subject, called "edeology"... Lawrence Lessig, a true intellectual and groundbreaking writer, has come out with the same relation.
How can such an objective subject like tecnology, become an ideological matter? Well: it can, indeed. And it did: remember the bubble? It is interesting to note that ideas behind edeology are very much alive, even if their financially speculative usage was finally terminated by the crisis. Beware: they can be used again for attracting new victims to the stock exchange. Or they can help building a better conversation... as in the blogosphere is sort of happening.
Edeology can be there in the good and bad developments. Let's be aware that danger is not finished. The big media issue about controlling rights is the new front. WIRED: Technology Over Ideology. Lawrence Lessig. Powell knew this was heresy. But without denouncing the party line, he nonetheless set up its demise. Auctions were slowed; spectrum commons were encouraged.
