An Italian journalist writes about what's happening in his funny country:
a laboratory for the study of broken democracy and creative capitalism.
Plus news about media and cultures.

Mafia and journalism

Report is a news tv show broadcasted by Rai, the Italian State television. Report has talked about the Mafia.

Small retailer shops pay even 1.000 euro per month to the Mafia. Police have found a real balance sheet in the hands of a "mafioso" with hundreds of shops that pay. Interviewed shoppers said they don't pay. And the work in peace.

Rai is owned by the State. The ceo wants a new journalistic broadcast that will explain how Sicily has a sound and good economy. The ceo was appointed by a board that was elected by the coalition that has wan the elections and that governs Italy.

That coalition has won all the seats in Sicily at the elections.

In the meanwhile, the premier was reported as saying that if the Left wins the next elections, Italy will risk a new era of terror and death. The day after he said that is was misquoted.
